For me there is no doubt that one of those was Learning to Read Faces. It’s become a part of my daily life that enhances every interaction that takes place. I can now build rapport with anyone in person, over the phone, and even over Zoom.
Focusing on Other People's Faces:
1. Gets Me Out of My Own Head:
Being an introverted/extrovert, I loved to be around people yet I terrified at the same time. I was always overthinking everything! By focusing on features and thinking about the meaning got me out of my head and into the present.
2. It Helps Create Connections:
Taking the time to read someone’s face gives them the time and attention. A skill that's dissipated with the distracts of modern technology. I love to focus on reading eyebrows because they are so close to the eyes. The next logical progression to make, and keep, eye contact.
3. It Brings Compassion:
Once we learn to read faces, we learned how to speak other people's language. Taking that extra second to think “How would they best receive this?” makes it about connection, instead of thinking about what I want to say.
This list is the tip of the iceberg in how life-changing learning to read facial features has been.
There is no question, my life was forever changed the day I discovered the skill of facial analysis.
